EMMA YOUNKIN
Emma Younkin serves as a Legal Assistant and Office Administrator at Rieper Law P.C., where she plays a central role in supporting both clients and attorneys throughout the legal process. Her responsibilities include client communication, case organization, document preparation and filing, court and agency coordination, and day-to-day office administration. She works closely with individuals navigating family law matters including divorce, child support and custody, adoptions, termination of parental rights, and guardianships—as well as criminal law matters.
Born and raised in Marshalltown, Iowa, Emma brings a strong connection to the local community and a genuine understanding of the personal challenges clients face when dealing with legal issues. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Management and Organizational Leadership from Drake University, with a focus in Non-Profit and Public Management and a minor in Business Law. While completing her studies at Drake University, Emma worked as a student Human Resources Assistant and earned her degree Magna Cum Laude in 2023.
After graduating, Emma gained valuable experience working as a legal assistant at a criminal defense firm in Des Moines, where she developed a strong foundation in legal procedures, case organization, and client communication. Through this experience, she discovered that the most fulfilling part of her work lies in being hands-on and directly involved—keeping cases organized, anticipating needs, and helping clients stay focused and informed during stressful and emotionally charged situations. Emma takes particular pride in being a steady, reassuring presence, often helping clients “stay the course” when they feel overwhelmed or uncertain.
Emma finds her work especially rewarding because it allows her to combine organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills in a meaningful way. She values building personal connections with clients, listening to their concerns, and ensuring they feel supported and understood throughout the legal process. For Emma, even small acts—providing clarity, answering questions, or simply being a friendly and reliable point of contact—can make a significant difference during what may be one of the most difficult periods in a client’s life.
Drawn to the legal profession from a young age, Emma aspires to attend law school and one day practice as an attorney, continuing her commitment to serving her community. At Rieper Law P.C., she is often one of the first faces and voices clients encounter, and she is committed to creating a welcoming, organized, and supportive experience from the very first interaction.
